Description
Zinc with Zn as a chemical symbol can be identified by its bluish-silver color. With 419.53 as maximum melting point and 907 as boiling point, zinc metal finds use in many applications. The zinc ingots can be segregated into standard and jumbo ingots as well as by their grade, for instance special high grade, continuous galvanizing grade, high grade, etc.
Applications
Every year around 13 Million tonnes of zinc are produced throughout the world. Following is the segregation done based on the utility:
- Nearly 58% of the total is utilized in the process of galvanizing, which is performed to protect steel against corrosion.
- About 14% zinc is used for manufacturing zinc die casting alloys.
- Approximately 9% zinc is used for production of chemicals and oxides.
- Around 10% is utilized in Brass semis and castings production.
